I love the clean, simple look in adds to my kitchen. Overall, very happy, especially considering the price (I bought 5 appliances, so the net cost to add this hood was only $200!) At the lowest setting the noise is fine, but medium and above it sounds a bit inconsistent.
While it is generally the same stainless steal as my GE range (and dishwasher and refrigerator) but not a perfect match. Installation of the chimney cover is a bit difficult if you want the minimum chimney (i.e. max clearance about stovetop), because there is a 1/4" drop required to install the chimney cover.
I dislike the yellow color of the included light (I guess about 2700k), where the rest of my kitchen lighting is 4000k.

Unfortunately this hood came to us not working. It was installed and turns out that the motor is stuck. The installation instructions were difficult to comprehend and the final steps installing the duct covers are contradictory. The online video for this model say to do one thing and the written instructions say to do something else. Neither instruction work with the design of the duct covers. Working with my retailer to get the unit fixed or replaced. I™™m confident that GE will make this right. We just got a bad hood.

I would avoid buying this hood as a recirculating hood until GE can figure out the charcoal filter issue. They recommend changing often but only sell 1 at a time to you. The hood takes 2 filters. They are also very tricky to install.

First hood arrived damaged, and it was replaced with yet another one with slightly less cosmetic damage, so we keep it has replacing was too much of an inconvenience. After install, we noticed when using the high and medium fan speeds that the flaps make a bit of a rattling noise that our other hood did not do. We had scheduling mixed up and have been waiting nearly two weeks for the hood to be inspected by GE's licensed tech. Not sure quality control for this specific hood is occurring. GE's warranty is no longer a year but a limited warranty with cosmetic damages carved out , so if you do not find them within 7 days of receiving the hood you are stuck with this big ticket item. Not the best buying experience. we have a GE gas range but we when we replace this one, we will likely buy another brand due to inconvenient processes related to initial issues with the product.

The primary literature for the hood states that a ceiling height of 7' 7" minimum is required. Not until we purchased the hood did we learn on page 11 of the owner's manual that a height of 7' 10" is required if you are using the hood to recirculate; otherwise the vents are covered on the sides. We have a 7' 8 1/2" ceiling height. This information should not be buried in the literature! Fortunately we had a machine shop who were able to cleanly cut the exterior stainless steel stack down 2 1/2" to expose the ventilation slots. Cost us more and was extremely stressful!

Beware! Although the literature states that the hood works with a 7™™ 7 in. ceiling height, it does NOT. If you are using this hood for recycling air, not ducting outside, you need a 7™™ 10 in. ceiling height or the vents will be covered. You learn this in the owner™™s manual AFTER you purchase it. You need a 24 in. outer duct and GE claims to not make one. Very disappointed to research this and be led astray.

We wanted a sleek, quiet hood fan and this GE fan is perfect. Even on high we barely hear it. The filters have a nice mechanism for taking in and out to clean in the dishwasher. The style is classic.

This wall exhaust hood came with our new built house. We are only 3 years out in and this exhaust suction is horrible, every time we cook we must clean the whole house because there are grease everywhere. We are planning to replace the exhaust with something stronger.

Remodeled our kitchen a year ago and bought all new GE Profile appliances and this hood vent. Today the light button broke. We are 2 responsible adults and no kids, so it's not like our appliances are abused. We've had the same part replaced on our gas range 5 times before it was finally right. Poor quality control.
